Legislation seeking to ban red-light cameras in non-home rule communities in Illinois was voted out of the Illinois House of Representatives on Wednesday. The bill – which was filed by state Rep. David McSweeney, R-Barrington Hills – passed by a 84-4-5 vote. McSweeney and state Reps. Allen Skillicorn, R-East Dundee, Steven Reick, R-Woodstock, Dan Ugaste, R-Geneva, and Tom Weber, R-Lake Villa, all voted yes. A similar effort from McSweeney introduced in 2015 made it this far in the legislative process before being killed by former state Sen.
