The yellowed Western Union telegram, dated Sept. 17, 1949, is a chatty note between close friends catching up — "HOPE YOUR ARE FINE" ... "YOUR ROOM SOUNDS PERFECT" ... "YOUR LETTERS MAKE ME HOMESICK." It closes with "LOVE FROM YOUR MOTHER, MARION." That's Marion as in Marion Koogler McNay (although it is misspelled MCMAY).
