Ryan AberBoth Bedlam quarterbacks and a former Oklahoma signal-caller are among the 20 on the trimmed watch list for the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award honoring college football’s top quarterback. It’s no surprise OU’s Baker Mayfield is among the players on the list, giving his back-to-back top five finishes in Heisman Trophy voting. Mayfield has thrown for 1,635 yards and 15 touchdowns with no interceptions so far this season, completing nearly 75 percent of his passes. Neither is it a surprise that Oklahoma State's Mason Rudolph made the cut. Rudolph has thrown for 1,909 yards and 16 touchdowns with four interceptions. Also on the list is former Oklahoma and Edmond Santa Fe quarterback Justice Hansen. Hansen redshirted for the Sooners in 2014 before transferring to a junior college before moving on to Arkansas State for 2016. In addition to Mayfield and Rudolph, Kansas State’s Jesse Ertz and TCU’s Kenny Hill are also on the list. Only quarterbacks that are seniors or fourth-year juniors are eligible.
