Marta Maria Miranda Had Tough Journey To Louisville

In today’s profile of Center for Women and Families' Marta Maria Miranda, I write that when Miranda moved to Kentucky, it was the first time she felt home since immigrating to the United States from rural Cuba when she was just 12 years old. What I failed to write about was her journey from Cuba to the this country, why her family left her homeland and how her early experiences in the new country helped shape who she is today. (There’s only so much I can cram into a one-page story.
