By Staff reports At its first meeting of the semester, Marshall University's governing board met briefly Wednesday and heard an update from a group reviewing the school's student conduct procedures. "An internal group of administrators has been meeting over the summer to review and amend procedures," according to a news release. "The group expects to present any revisions to the board for approval at its October meeting." Spokeswoman Ginny Painter said President Jerome Gilbert asked for the review because of "student conduct" issues in the spring semester, but said she couldn't discuss what those issues were because of student privacy laws. "The board and administration just want to make sure there is a comprehensive review of all policies and procedures, and that any needed changes or updates are done in an expedient manner." Also Wednesday, Brandi Jacobs-Jones, senior vice president for operations and chief of staff, told the board that the school's students and staff have completed more than 2,000 hours of community service in communities affected by the late-June flood. "The fact that the university community really pulled together to get all this done, even during the summer when many people were out, demonstrates what it means to be a son or daughter of Marshall University," she said in a news release.
