Ann Tillou always dusts off the hat she wore as part of her Marine uniform at the end of World War II any time she attends a military function. The 102-year-old resident of the Penney Retirement Community in Clay County wore that hat Tuesday as she shared stories of her service over cake with fellow veterans. Tillou is the oldest of more than 50 veterans living at the facility and she was one of three Marines gathered in the room Tuesday to celebrate the Marine Corps’ 240th birthday. read more
