BY KASSONDRA CLOOS kassondra.cloos@gazette.com -Two rural neighborhoods in Teller County were ordered evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a grass fire started amid the red flag warnings that stretched across southern Colorado. Twelve homes were evacuated in the Highland Meadows subdivision, according to Gazette news partner KKTV. The Red Cross is responding to Cripple Creek High School, the evacuation site, to assist families who left their homes. Sheriff Mike Ensminger said he was unsure exactly how many people were affected. Winds were blowing at 35 to 40 mph, he said, but units on scene were optimistic they could contain the fire quickly.
