Manager Of Ormond Beach Eatery Lulu's Returns After 3-year Health Battle

ORMOND BEACH - Frank Villante is back as general manager at LuLu's Oceanside Grill after a three-year hiatus.The reason for the extended time away from the restaurant he helped open eight years ago: Health complications arose after a knee-replacement surgery in 2010.Villante returned from surgery after just one month, but then five months later the knee replacement got infected, which forced him to take more time off.During that second break, he caught the flu, which turned into pneumonia, which put him into the hospital.After he returned home, he then caught the flu again, which led to a second bout of pneumonia.His organs started failing so his doctors put him into an induced coma for eight weeks."I woke up and couldn't move my legs or feet," he said.Villante was put into a physical rehabilitation center where "I had to relearn everything," he said.Villante, 51, resumed working at the restaurant Jan.
