Man Freed After Mistrial Declared In Stamford Rape Case

STAMFORD-A week after a judge declared a mistrial in his rape case, a Stamford man accepted a plea bargain that could get him released from jail immediately. At a brief hearing at the Stamford courthouse on Thursday morning, Darris Frazier, 30, pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of third-degree sexual assault and will receive a five-year suspended jail sentence when he returns to court in January. A three-day trial ended last Thursday after a jury of four women and two men deadlocked on a vote of 4-2 to convict.
