RUMFORD — The fate of two dogs that killed another dog and injured its owner in Winslow now rests with the justices of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. Their owner, Danielle Jones, appealed a district court’s order to euthanize pit bulls Bentley and Kole. That order followed a finding that Jones had committed the civil violation of keeping dangerous dogs after the animals escaped from their fenced-in backyard and killed a 10-month-old Boston terrier. The court, sitting as the Law Court, heard arguments Friday morning from Jones’ attorney, Richard Rosenthal, and from Kennebec County Assistant District Attorney Tracy DeVoll. Rosenthal hopes the dogs can be spared.
