Tensions between Denver Public Schools and its teachers union escalated in recent weeks after the district unexpectedly gave hundreds of veteran educators one-time bonuses, leading the head of the Denver Classroom Teachers Association to accuse district leaders of “union busting.”

A young company that formed during the pandemic and chose the Denver area as its base has big ambitions: to become the world’s leading supplier of advanced electric motors.
The company, H3X, was founded by a team of engineers and has grown since its start in 2020 to 33 employees.
“We’re aiming to get to 45 to 50 by end of the year,” said Jason Sylvestre, co-founder and CEO.
The startup’s mission, Sylvestre said, is to help decarbonize the aviation, aerospace, marine, defense and heavy-industry sectors by designing and producing high-density, lightweight electric motors.
At a Safeway grocery store in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, customers planning to peruse aisles 2 and 3 first must enter a secure shopping area cordoned off from the rest of the store.
Security cameras monitor an extensive list of products stocked on those protected shelves, including batteries, lightbulbs, laundry detergent, pregnancy tests, deodorant, candles, medicine and baby food.
