A painful chronic illness and cancer diagnosis didn’t stop Molly Norris from reaching her goal of playing varsity soccer.Now Molly, 15, of New Franklin is encouraging other athletes throughout the region to help kick childhood cancers by buying special gold shoelaces to wear during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September.Akron Children’s Hospital is teaming up with national nonprofit Go4theGoal for the second year to raise money and awareness through its Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer campaign.Participating sports teams at all levels of competition can purchase $5 shoelaces in gold, the designated color for pediatric cancer awareness.Akron Children’s Showers Family Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders receives the entire $5 for each pair sold locally.“We’re trying to look at all opportunities to raise awareness,” said Dr.
