After being coated with several inches of snow over the weekend, McHenry County is unlikely to experience more precipitation over the next week, according to the National Weather Service. Between 3 and 6 inches were estimated for Kane, McHenry and Lake counties Friday evening into Saturday afternoon. The snowfall in McHenry County ended up between 2 and 4 inches with the city of Woodstock receiving 3.3 inches, according to NWS data. NWS meteorologist Lee Carlaw said Winnebago County received 4 to 6 inches but had the pivot point of the winter storm been 10 miles to the east, McHenry County could have been hit with that much. “It’s a gradient game we have to play with these snowfalls,” Carlaw said. McHenry County Division of Transportation crews were in 24-hour operations Thursday morning.
