Indian authorities, in collaboration with Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, have reportedly dismantled a gaming app scam that defrauded users of over $47 million. The country’s Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested four people who allegedly assisted Chinese nationals in running a scam gaming app called Fiewin, in which victims lost over Rs 400 crore.
The Fiewin app is believed to have lured users into online betting and gaming through mini-games, promising easy profits before eventually trapping their funds.
New research has found that AI can be successfully trained to pass CAPTCHA tests flawlessly. They say previously it could only beat it 68 to 71 percent of the time.

Apple has reportedly stepped back from talks to participate in an OpenAI funding round expected to raise as much as $6.5 billion. According to sources cited by the Wall Street Journal, the tech giant fell out of the talks to join the round, which is slated to close next week.

A controversial AI safety bill in California has been vetoed by the state’s governor over the weekend (Sept. 29).
Senate bill 1047 was passed by the State Assembly at the end of August. It set out to implement safeguards on large AI models and prevent “critical harms” against humanity. The creators of models in California would also be liable for damages above $500 million.
It was met with a mixed response from the industry.
