Safeties coach Maurice Linguist left Mississippi State after one season for Minnesota. (Logan Lowery/ Daily Journal) Safeties coach Maurice Linguist has left his post at Mississippi State to join P.J. Fleck’s staff at Minnesota as the secondary coach. Linguist lasted just one season in Starkville and is the second defensive coach to depart along with defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon, who left Wednesday to take the same position at Louisville. Linguist’s safeties produced six of the team’s 14 interceptions this past fall. Linguist’s move leaves Dan Mullen will two vacancies to fill on his staff.
