A lightning strike has damaged key equipment at a Maine dairy farm, and officials say they may lose thousands of gallons of milk. The Portland Press Herald reports lightning hit Smiling Hill Farm in Westbrook during a passing storm Tuesday. Farm officials say the strike damaged controls required by the federal government to monitor pasteurization. Warrant Knight, who is a member of the family that owns the farm, says it may be days before the replacement equipment arrives.
