Legal Field Struggles To Overcome Persistent Gender Bias

The notion that employers would hold a family, or the maternity leave it would require, against a female lawyer -- which Calvin said she bases on honest advice from professors -- is just one of the realities that Calvin and her female classmates can expect upon graduation. A recent study through the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar paints a broader picture of the field that female law students will face, with 43 percent of female respondents reporting in 2015 that they had experienced some sort of gender bias.
