The Latest: Hurricane Joaquin Moving Away From Bermuda

MIAMI (AP) — The latest on Hurricane Joaquin in the Atlantic Ocean. 7:55 a.m. Hurricane Joaquin (wa-KEEN) is beginning to move away from Bermuda but the U.S. National Hurricane Center says the island is still seeing tropical storm conditions. The hurricane's maximum sustained winds Monday morning are near 85 mph (140 kph) with gradual weakening expected during the next two days. The hurricane is centered about 160 miles (255 kilometers) north of Bermuda and is moving north-northeast near 13 mph (20 kph).
