Lake GeorgeSince a program to inspect boats launching into Lake George for invasive species, no new such species have turned up in the lake.An annual report on the program by the Lake George Park Commission said the lake remains in the "relatively enviable position of having only five invasive species in its crystal clear waters."In contrast, only a few miles away in Lake Champlain, where many boaters have been before coming to Lake George, there are more than 50 such invasives.Still, of the more than 10,900 incoming boats from other bodies of water that were inspected this year at stations around the lake before launching, about one in every six was found not to be cleaned, drained and dry.
