BALTIMORE — Baltimore police filed official documents in court saying that a man who died after his spine was nearly severed while in their custody had been arrested “without force or incident.” Officer Garrett Miller asked that 25-year-old Freddie Gray be charged with carrying a switchblade, punishable by a year in prison and a $500 fine, according to court records obtained Monday by The Associated Press. Miller’s charging document doesn’t provide any explanations for the injuries that would lead to Gray’s death a week later.
