Police on Monday identified the surfer who died off Gooch’s Beach in Kennebunk last week as Andrew F. Payson, 51, of Hopkinton, Massachusetts. Police said they had still not received a cause of death from the Maine Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police and rescue workers were called to Gooch’s Beach near Narragansett Point at 3:42 p.m.
