TOPEKA | Kansas drivers should resist the urge to text while driving starting Saturday. After six months of issuing warnings, law enforcement officers will begin handing out tickets Jan. 1 to anyone they catch texting while driving. The tickets will cost $60 plus any local court fines. The law also bans sending instant messages and e-mail while driving.
