(AP) — Pennsylvania's attorney general wrote a state Senate committee Monday to argue the chamber does not have authority to remove her from office under an obscure constitutional provision now being considered for use against her. Attorney General Kathleen Kane told the Special Committee on Senate Address that if a supermajority of senators acts to kick her out of office, that would deprive her and state residents of constitutional protections. The first-term Democrat wrote that if lawmakers want to remove her, they need to follow a state constitutional process that requires impeachment by the House followed by trial in the Senate and a two-thirds vote.
