On Sunday night, more than 40,000 Black women reportedly gathered on a Zoom call. Their purpose: To rally around Vice President Kamala Harris’ newly launched campaign to win the Democratic nomination for the presidency. Part of how that support manifested was through a massive influx of cash: Black women on that Zoom call raised $1.5 million in three hours, according to Win With Black Women, the organization that convened the virtual gathering. Black women have long been recognized as the most crucial voting bloc for the Democratic party.
