Jury Selection Starts In Fremont County Deputy's Evidence Mishandling Case

CANON CITY, Colo. — Jury selection began Monday in the trial of a former Colorado sheriff's deputy charged with keeping evidence from an unsolved murder in a personal storage locker. Former Fremont County deputy Robert Dodd was charged with abuse of public records and official misconduct after the contents of his locker were auctioned in late 2016 because he stopped paying rent. Prosecutors allege Dodd kept evidence from the August 2006 shooting death of 17-year-old Candace Hiltz, including a shell casing, a hatchet, bloody socks and a rope.
