ROCKFORD — An intricate tattoo with five-pointed crown on Isaac Jaimes’ arm reads “Death before dishonor,” and it is far more than a colorful arm decoration, prosecutors told jurors at his first-degree murder trial Tuesday. It is a code Jaimes lived by as a member of the Latin King street gang and was willing to kill to protect, Winnebago County Assistant State’s Attorneys John Gibbons and Wendy Larson said.
