Judge: Seaworld Trying To Comply With Safety Goals

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — A federal judge says SeaWorld Orlando has made a good faith effort to comply with new workplace safety goals following the death of a trainer who was drowned by a killer whale in 2010. An order from the judge obtained by The Associated Press on Monday says SeaWorld didn't miss a deadline to have new safety procedures in place that were recommended by the federal Department of Labor. Those safety measures include only allowing trainers to work with killer whales if there's a physical barrier between them and creating a minimal distance between trainer and whale. SeaWorld officials had asked for an extension so they could consult outside experts.
