Johnny Manziel thinks Texas A&M freshman QB Marcel Reed 'needs to give the fans some hope' Texans wide receiver Nico Collins saw a fan in the stands and tossed him a football following a Nov. 24 touchdown against the Titans. The move earned him a fine by the NFL. 12/13/2024 - 1:55 pm | View Link
Mackenzie Blackwood was nearly perfect in his Colorado Avalanche debut, both on and off the ice.
Sure, he had just authored a sensational opening act in Denver but there was an important piece of business shortly after being named the No. 1 star of the game at Ball Arena. He was also the recipient of the “big hat” — Colorado’s internal player of the game award from Noggin Boss.
Blackwood took the photo for the team’s social media, but with one minor faux pas — he didn’t keep it on for his postgame media scrum.
“It feels great,” Blackwood started to answer in his normal-sized Avs cap before a stern voice from several stalls away interrupted him.
“Put the hat on, (Blackwood),” Cale Makar said.
If he keeps playing like this, Blackwood will get used to how the big hat feels.

MIAMI — Former Broncos quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went back to his high school alma mater this season and won a state championship.
Bridgewater, in his first season as coach at Miami Northwestern High, led the Bulls to the Florida Class 3A state title. The Bulls beat Jacksonville Raines High 41-0 on Saturday in the championship game.
“It’s great to be back on top,” Bridgewater said after leading the Bulls to their eighth state championship.
His team finished the season 12-2, outscoring its five playoff opponents by a combined score of 262-12.
Bridgewater went to college at Louisville before playing in the NFL with six franchises over nine seasons.
NEW YORK – On the gridiron, Colorado’s Travis Hunter is seemingly a one-man show, an ultra-talented unicorn who can do it all.
Hunter is the best receiver in the country, but receivers don’t usually win the Heisman Trophy. He’s arguably the best cornerback, too, but it’s even more rare for a defender to win it.
On Saturday night at Lincoln Center, however, Hunter won the 90th Heisman Trophy because he does both, and at a supreme level.
