Nikola Jokic has returned to the Nuggets’ lineup after welcoming a newborn son this week with his wife, Natalija, a source told The Denver Post.
Jokic, 29, didn’t travel with the team for its recent three-game road trip, staying in Denver with his family while his wife was expecting. They also have a 3-year-old daughter, Ognjena.
The Rockies shook up their roster and continued their youth movement Friday when they non-tendered Gold Glove second baseman Brendan Rodgers and right-handed starter Cal Quantrill.
The moves cut the club’s payroll for the 2025 season and cleared a path for young prospects, such as second baseman Adael Amador and a crop of young starters who could make their big-league debuts in 2025.
“We appreciate both guys and their efforts, but tough decisions had to be made,” general manager Bill Schmidt said.
No team has won more games or collected more points than the Boston Bruins since the day they hired Jim Montgomery as their head coach.
And yet the national championship-winning coach at the University of Denver is no longer employed by the Bruins after being fired Tuesday. If we’re curating a collection of the biggest disappointments from the first quarter of the 2024-25 NHL season, the Bruins, and the dismissal of Montgomery, are an easy choice to top the list.
One thing that shouldn’t be a surprise in the NHL is the general level of inertia.
Broncos defensive Zach Allen is questionable to play in Sunday’s road matchup against the Raiders due to a heel injury.
Allen was a limited participant on Wednesday due to rest. He practiced fully on Thursday and was once again limited on Friday because of the injury.
If Allen is unable to play, that would be a significant loss to Denver’s defense, which ranks first in sacks (39) and second in pressures (164).
One of the greatest skiers of all time, a Rocktober hero, and a coach who helped put the Nuggets on the map headline the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame class of 2025.
The trio consists of Mikaela Shiffrin, who is on the cusp of surpassing 100 alpine skiing victories on the World Cup circuit before she turns 30 in March; former Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, a five-time major league all-star; and Larry Brown, who coached the Nuggets for five seasons, including their first three in the NBA, and earned ABA coach of the year honors in 1975 and ’76 while leading the team to prominence.
The other three members of the Class of ’25 are Simon Fletcher, who owns the second-most sacks in Broncos history; Denver-born Negro Leagues player and World War II veteran Theodore “Bubbles” Anderson; and Lisa Van Goor, who totaled more than 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in her University of Colorado basketball career.
The 60th annual banquet is scheduled for April 9 at the Hilton Denver City Center.
Shiffrin, who was born and raised in the Vail Valley, has won 98 World Cup gold medals, a record for any skier, man or woman.
