By GRAHAM DUNBAR Carlo Janka of Switzerland was fastest in the first run of the men's giant slalom at the world championships on Friday.The 22-year-old downhill bronze medalist timed 1 minute, 8.25 seconds on the Bellevarde slope.Benjamin Raich of Austria was second, 0.48 behind, and GS specialist Max Blardone of Italy was third, 0.96 back.Results were not yet official because lower-ranked skiers in the 75-man field were still to race.Janka was heavily favored after winning the World Cup GS race held here last December.
