Even though the city made mistakes while selecting the local non-profits that will receive $2 million in public service grants next year, a Jacksonville City Council panel said it’s too late for a mulligan and recommended moving forward with the original picks. However, the panel also said the selection process needs to be changed in the future, and that the amount of public money available for agencies serving the city’s homeless, the poor, the elderly and residents with disabilities is woefully inadequate. read more
