Wild turkeys are thriving after being reintroduced 40 years ago. The hunting limit was raised to two males this spring season. But the birds are notoriously hard to hunt. In 2016, though 1,163 turkey-hunting permits were sold in Rhode Island, only 122 turkeys were actually reported harvested, according to state records.
