Iowa’s community college enrollment is down while the cost to attend is up. But the institutions collectively still serve more than half of all Iowans pursuing postsecondary education, and they’ve increased their reach to the state’s growing minority population.The Annual Condition of Iowa’s Community Colleges report released this week — recounting highlights from 2018 — shows combined credit enrollment in Iowa’s 15 community colleges dipped 1.2 percent, to 131,144 students, taking nearly 1.8 million credits.
