NEW DELHI — A day after India’s prime minister urged an ailing 74-year old anti-corruption activist to end his protest fast, officials and activists went into a huddle Wednesday to thrash out a compromise that could end the standoff and produce a strong anti-graft law. On the ninth day of his hunger strike, activist Anna Hazare said he has lost about 12 pounds but continues to question the government’s will to introduce sweeping and powerful ombudsman legislation to curb corruption.
