Ikea’s misstep Ikea has apologized for preventing a black man from participating in an ad on the basis of his skin color. The company had hired a casting agency to find actors for a commercial targeting the Greek market, Swedish broadcaster SVT reported. The agency proposed Swedish actor Fernando Carabalí, but the production company said he wasn’t suited — and in an email to Carabali, the agency wrote that he “can’t be black for the Greek market.” An Ikea spokesman said the company was looking for a blond, light-skinned man for the ad but failed to specify that in the casting process.
