A man was killed in a shooting on Thanksgiving Day at an apartment complex in Lauderdale Lakes, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
The shooting happened about 3:30 p.m. in the 2800 block of Somerset Drive. Paramedics pronounced the adult man dead there, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Thursday evening.
Deputies have detained one person, and Homicide Unit and Crime Scene detectives are investigating.
The Dolphins aim to get their first win over a winning team in sub-freezing kickoff temperatures in 18 years and get to 6-6, and squarely in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Catch up with the commentary from the Sun Sentinel’s Miami Dolphins coverage team here.
MIAMI — Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler has returned to the team’s injury report for the second time in three weeks, this time due to the back pain that kept him out of the closing stages of Wednesday night’s 98-94 road victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
Butler is listed as probable for Friday night’s game against the Toronto Raptors at Kaseya Center, with “back tightness.”
Butler is the second Heat player on the injury report with a back issue, with veteran center Kevin Love having missed Wednesday’s victory due to the back spasms that sidelined him after his initial stint in Tuesday night’s home loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.
The Miami Dolphins have elected not to activate edge rusher Shaq Barrett from the reserve/retired list, the South Florida Sun Sentinel has confirmed, meaning Barrett won’t be eligible to play this season.
The story was first reported by NFL Network.
Barrett, who surprisingly retired before training camp, recently expressed a desire to return to play.
But the Dolphins own his rights.
The Dolphins had to make a decision by 4 p.m.
President Vladimir Putin warned that his forces could strike “decision-making centers” in the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv with new ballistic missiles as retaliation for attacks on Russia using Western missiles.
“The Defense Ministry and the General Staff are selecting targets to hit on Ukrainian territory,” Putin said during a regional security meeting in Kazakhstan’s capital Astana on Thursday.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Thursday she is confident that a tariff war with the United States can be averted.
But her statement — the day after she held a phone call with U. S. President-elect Donald Trump — did not make clear who had offered what.
“There will be no potential tariff war,” Sheinbaum said flatly when asked about the issue at her daily morning news briefing.
On Wednesday, Trump wrote that Sheinbaum had agreed to stop unauthorized migration across the border into the United States.
