A new and possibly less contentious era started Tuesday for the Broward School Board, as two new and three returning members were sworn in for new terms. During a ceremony at Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale, board members pledged to focus more on student achievement and less on political differences in the coming years. Joining the board are recently elected board members Maura Bulman, who represents the Hollywood area, and Rebecca Thompson, who represents the Pembroke Pines and Miramar areas. All were elected in August to four-year terms except for Bulman, whose term will end in 2026.
