House of Bedrooms, a retailer of bedroom furniture and handmade Oriental rugs, announced it is closing its two stores, after more than 50 years in business. The business was founded by Robert and Norma Goldman, who opened their first location in September of 1960 in Bloomfield Hills. The couple's sons joined the business, and in 1997, the family opened a new 20,000-square-foot showroom devoted to master bedroom furniture next door to the original 16,400-square-foot location.
