In this Dolphins Deep Dive video, the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s Dave Hyde and David Furones discuss Miami’s victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium and the team’s slim chances of making the postseason. If Miami was to actually sneak into the playoffs, would it change the narrative around the Dolphins (7-8) after struggling most of the season?

MIAMI GARDENS — The Miami Dolphins had a chance to erase the bitter taste of last week’s Houston loss out of their mouths with Sunday’s game against San Francisco at Hard Rock Stadium.
And the Dolphins did put a good taste in their mouths with their 29-17 victory over the 49ers in their home finale for the 2024 season.
The win keeps the Dolphins (7-8) alive in the AFC wild-card playoff picture.

MIAMI GARDENS — Look, up in the sky.
It’s not a bird.
It’s a plane with a Fire-Chris-Grier banner flying around Hard Rock Stadium early Sunday afternoon, according to social media.
It’s also — oh, not this — the pie-in-the-sky playoff possibilities floating around for the Dolphins. We’re not going to do this again, are we?

TAMPA — A. J. Greer and Eetu Luostarinen scored short-handed goals 42 seconds apart in the second period to help the Florida Panthers beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2 on Sunday to open a home-and-home series.
The teams will play again Monday night at Florida.
Sam Reinhart scored twice, the second into an empty net, and Spencer Knight stopped 19 shots for Stanley Cup champion Florida.

MIAMI GARDENS — The Miami Dolphins are alive for another week.
Kicker Jason Sanders made all five of his field goals, and the Dolphins held off the San Francisco 49ers late, with running back De’Von Achane’s 50-yard touchdown run the exclamation point on a 29-17 win in their home finale Sunday evening at Hard Rock Stadium.
Miami (7-8) staved off elimination, as it would’ve mathematically been out of playoff contention with a loss.
“We’ve been waiting for a three-phase game, which I think we had (Sunday),” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said.
