Taking advantage of summer break, soon-to-be University of Colorado-Colorado Springs junior Syrie Estes set out on a hike in Palmer Park Tuesday morning to relax before work. Like most 19-year-olds, she brought along her cellphone and stopped near Parking Area 15 shortly after 9 a.m. to take in the view and message friends. That's the last thing Syrie remembers before waking up on the ground "pretty beat up and sore." She was 15 feet from her belongings.
