High Winds Cause Thousands To Lose Power

The state is under a High Wind Warning until 11 a.m. Thursday with a steady wind blowing from the west between 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 to 60 mph. Danbury Muncipal Airport had a peak gust of 63 mph early this morning; Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford recorded 59 mph and Oxford airport saw the peak wind at 57 mph. Hardest hits towns in UI’s coverage area include Easton, Milford, Ansonia Trumbull and Woodbridge where more than 43 percent of its customers have lost power.
