The rapid-fire smack smack smack of hundreds of high-fives filled the cafeteria at Heritage High School on Tuesday, as a line of about 150 high school students slapped palms with the school mascot, a timber wolf, in an attempt to break the world record for most high-fives by a mascot in one minute. The record, for what it’s worth, is 128, and was set by the mascot of the University of Indianapolis, a greyhound named Ace, according to Guinness World Records. “It’s shared experience, having something positive going into the break,” said Justin Tanner, dean of students at the high school in east Vancouver. School resource officer Brendan McCarthy said the holidays can be a difficult time for Heritage High School students.
