By Randal EdgarPROVIDENCE, R.I. -- A hearing on a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in Rhode Island ended at 11:09 p.m. Tuesday, more than six hours after it began. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Arthur Handy, D-Cranston, drew hundreds of supporters and opponents. More than 200 people attended and most of them spoke either strongly in favor of or strongly against the bill. The committee voted at the start of the meeting to hold the bill for further study.
