After years of intermittently rolling out new features involving artificial intelligence, Google is now bringing everything together in a major overhaul of Google Shopping. Announced on Tuesday (Oct. 15), the tech giant joins other major platforms that are shifting AI from a sidebar to the core of its shopping experience. In a blog post, Google announced that it has paired the 45 billion product listings in its shopping graph with its large language model (LLM), Gemini, “to transform the online shopping experience with a new, personalized shopping home.” Using Gemini, Google Shopping will only “show the most relevant products,” in a bid to speed up and simplify the process.
