GAINESVILLE — The Florida football team will finish 12th in the expanded SEC, according to league-wide media, a season after the Gators finished 3-5 in league play and 5-7 overall during coach Billy Napier’s second year. The conference eliminated divisions with the July 1 arrival of Big 12 football powers Texas and Oklahoma to bring the number of SEC member schools to 16. Napier’s 2023 Gators were picked fifth in the seven-team SEC East Division a season after UF was picked fourth and also finished 3-5 in conference play. While outside expectations are low, Napier is the most optimistic he’s been at UF. “I love our team,” he said Wednesday at SEC Media Days.
