[...] as interesting as open houses and bidding wars and gentrification may be at the water cooler, these topics do not lend themselves to easy cinematic translation. In recent times, the once-sketchy neighborhood has become hipster central (sound familiar?), and Ruth's perky shark-realtor niece Lily (Cynthia Nixon, quite funny) has been pressing the couple to sell while the market is hot (never mind where Ruth and Alex will land after the place is sold). The script tries to compensate by tossing in an ailing dog and a purported terrorist scare in New York, but those ineffective subplots don't hide that this movie is one big conflict-free zone.
