AGYEKUM By Laurence Hilliard Special to the Journal JACKSON – Ashland coach Rolley Tipler remembers all too well a game in the state tournament a year ago. “We went to overtime with Shaw in a semifinal game and lost by two and we missed 19 free throws,” he said. “That’s one thing that I try to emphasize, that free throws are going to be very important in a big game.” The emphasis paid off Monday when free throw shooting was the difference in Ashland’s 72-69 victory over Simmons in a 1A semifinal battle of Blue Devils teams.
