Fort Carson Cavalry Squadron To Honor War Dead Today

Fort Carson's most decorated unit will remember its war dead with a ceremony Friday at the Kit Carson Memorial at Nelson Boulevard and Colorado 115, just outside the post's main gate. The 10 a.m. event is for the 3rd Squadron of the 61st Cavalry Regiment, whose soldiers earned two Medals of Honor during a 2009 battle in Afghanistan. "The ceremony is held in remembrance of all 3/61 Cavalry troopers that have made the ultimate sacrifice during the squadron's history," Fort Carson said in a news release.
