Former Lamborn Foe Halter Gets Top Position With State Department

By STEPHEN HOBBS stephen.hobbs@gazette.com -Retired Air Force Major Gen. Irv Halter will be the new executive director of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, the office of Gov. John Hickenlooper announced Tuesday. Halter, a former Air Force fighter pilot who served as an officer for more than 32 years, will take the position effective Friday, according to a news release. He will replace Kevin Patterson, chief administrator for Hickenlooper, who held the position in an interim role after the resignation of Reeves Brown in March, the release said. A 1977 Air Force Academy graduate and former advisor to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, halter was unsuccessful in a bid to defeat Doug Lamborn for Colorado's 5th congressional district in the November
