Flood Watch Canceled For Southwestern Connecticut

The National Weather Service has canceled a flood watch for the southern part of the state as rain is expected to end this morning. Moderate to heavy rainfall that was orgininally expected in the area is now forecast as periods of light rain, NWS reported around 7 a.m. Temperatures are expected to stay above freezing, meaning snow will continue to melt. But, the threat of “ice jam flooding” has diminished in the area and the official watch is canceled. The latest rainfall totals reported by NWS Friday night show 1.36 inches in Danbury and Westport.
